- Uses:
- 1) Used in confectionery.
- 2) Substitute for fruit proteins in jam, jelly and marmalade
industries.
- 3) Stabilizer in ice creams and mayonnaise
- 4) Sizing, finishing and printing cotton fabrics and artificial silk
- 5) Adhesive in book binding, cardboard manufacture and plywood
industry, and in sizing and weighing compositions in the
leather industry
- 6) For preparation of emulsions of essential oils and fatty acids,
shaving creams and dentifrice.
- 7) It is used as a binder and in the manufacture of pills and tablets,
in the preparation of colloidal iodine jelly
- 8) In insecticidal
preparations.

- 1) Sizing of artificial silk.

sizing, and as a finishing material, superior to maize starch.
- 3) In jute industry for sizing.
- 4) As emulsifying agent for essential oil.
- 5) As an adhesive and dehydrating agent, in cosmetics
- 6) As excipient in the preparation of pills and tablets.
- 7) In the preparation of colloidal iodine jelly and as nutrient media
in bacteriological work.
- 8) As a substitute for gum in the printing and plastic industries in
binding work and as an adulterant with maize starch
